What does it really take to bring Reiki into a hospital setting?
Join Medical Reiki International for a unique training opportunity in collaboration with the Integrative Care Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), where Reiki and other complementary therapies are incorporated into patient care.
This special three day Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM) training, preceded by a required Friday evening online gathering, combines our comprehensive professional curriculum with a hospital immersion experience. Participants will gain firsthand insight into how Reiki is integrated into a clinical environment.
Expanding our traditional two day training to three days, this program brings classroom education together with experiential learning in an established hospital integrative care setting. The third day offers participants the opportunity to shadow experienced hospital Reiki practitioners during patient rounds and put their training into practice by offering Reiki to hospital staff.
Led by experienced Medical Reiki educators Marleen Duffy, founder of Medical Reiki International, and Helene Williams, BSN, RN, the training draws upon years of experience bringing Reiki into healthcare settings. Day Three: Hospital Immersion & Experiential Learning

An opportunity to experience Medical Reiki in action.
A distinguishing feature of this training is the third day of hospital immersion, offering newly trained Certified Medical Reiki Masters a unique opportunity to experience how Reiki is incorporated into patient care within a major academic medical center.
Participants will accompany and shadow experienced hospital Reiki practitioners from the Integrative Care Department during their patient rounds, observing firsthand how Reiki is offered within a clinical environment. This experience provides valuable insight into patient interactions, communication with healthcare professionals, hospital protocols, and the compassionate presence essential to working in healthcare.
Building on this experience, participants will then put their learning into practice by offering Reiki to hospital staff, supporting the wellbeing of the very professionals who dedicate themselves to caring for others.
Together, these experiences bring classroom learning into the realities of hospital practice, reinforcing the importance of professionalism, collaboration, ethical care, and compassionate service.
This hospital immersion experience is an integral and required part of the three-day CMRM certification program.
All activities will be conducted in accordance with the medical center's established policies, patient and staff consent, and clinical protocols.

The program includes a mandatory Friday evening online gathering, two full days of professional Medical Reiki education, and a third day of hospital immersion with the Integrative Care Department at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Full participation in all four components of the program, including the hospital shadowing experience and offering Reiki to hospital staff, along with successful completion of the assessment requirements, is necessary to receive certification as a Certified Medical Reiki Master (CMRM) through Medical Reiki International.

Online Medical Reiki Training
We are delighted to announce the dates for our next live Online Medical Reiki Training, taking place from 19th to 21st March 2027.
We are always looking for ways to improve the training experience, and we have refined the schedule for 2027.
The Friday evening welcome session has been extended slightly, giving participants more time to meet one another, connect with the instructors and prepare for the weekend ahead. We have also created longer training days on Saturday and Sunday, allowing more time for teaching, practical work, discussion and integration.
These enhancements have also been incorporated into our in-person Medical Reiki Training taking place this October, reflecting our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality learning experience for all our students.

If you have a group interested in completing Medical Reiki training together, we can arrange a dedicated training programme specifically for your group.
For groups of 8 or more, we can provide a private online Medical Reiki training, delivered exclusively to your participants and scheduled around your group's needs.
For groups of 12 or more, we can also offer in-person training at your location. If you are a healthcare organisation, Reiki community, wellbeing centre, training provider, hospital, clinic, retreat centre, or already host professional workshops and educational programmes, we can travel to you and deliver the training within your own venue.

Marleen Duffy – Founder & Lead Instructor
Marleen Duffy is the founder of Medical Reiki International and a highly respected Reiki Master Teacher with over 25 years of Reiki experience and over 15 years teaching all levels of Reiki. Based in Ireland, she has delivered Reiki in hospitals, hospices, and cancer care centers, and now teaches Medical Reiki to students internationally, supporting them in building ethical, clinically aware, and compassionate practices.
Her journey into Medical Reiki was profoundly shaped by the late Raven Keyes, a true pioneer in the field. Marleen traveled from Ireland to New York to train with Raven in person, an experience that inspired the founding of Medical Reiki Ireland, with Raven’s blessing and support. As her work expanded globally, Medical Reiki International emerged as the natural progression of that original vision, reflecting its broader international reach and continued commitment to advancing Reiki in healthcare.
Raven was not only a mentor, but also a dear friend. Marleen has felt her absence deeply, they were very close, and she misses her terribly. Still, she remains more determined than ever to carry forward Raven’s vision of bringing professional, compassionate Reiki into medical settings around the world.
While Raven’s work remains the deep inspiration behind this path, Marleen continues to honour her legacy with the utmost respect and love. The training offered through Medical Reiki International has been thoughtfully expanded and redesigned to reflect current professional and clinical standards, while remaining rooted in the spirit, values, and sacred intention of Raven’s original teachings
As part of honouring that legacy, all trainees are required to have Raven’s foundational book, Medical Reiki: A Groundbreaking Approach to Using Energy Medicine for Challenging Treatments, which is referenced throughout the training. Marleen is also proud to be mentioned in Raven’s book.
In 2020, Marleen launched the Reiki Buddy Scheme, a global volunteer initiative offering free distant Reiki to frontline workers and vulnerable individuals during the COVID-19 crisis. She continued the initiative for over three years, with distant Reiki remaining available, particularly for patients in hospital settings, throughout the program. With over 100 volunteers, it became a symbol of healing, hope, and compassionate support during an unprecedented time.
Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering dedication, Marleen continues to advance the place of Reiki in modern medicine,training the next generation of Medical Reiki practitioners to meet the highest standards of care.

Helene Williams, RN, BSN, Reiki Master/Teacher.
is honored to join Marleen Duffy and Medical Reiki International, bringing her expertise and passion for integrating Reiki into clinical settings. Based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA, Helene is a bachelor's-prepared registered nurse with over 17 years of experience offering Reiki in various medical settings, including hospitals, chemotherapy infusion centers, pre- and post-operative care, hospice care, addiction treatment centers, and long-term care facilities. She participated in a hospital-based Reiki research study, facilitated a hospital Reiki volunteer program, and currently serves on the board of the Center for Reiki Research.
In 2022, Helene had the privilege of meeting Raven Keyes at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York. They formed an immediate and meaningful connection through their shared commitment to integrating Reiki into medical environments. Together, they developed plans for Raven to travel to Pennsylvania to lead a RKMRI Medical Reiki Master training in July 2023.
Helene was heartbroken to learn of Raven’s unexpected passing in May 2023. She remains profoundly grateful to Marleen Duffy, who stepped in with great compassion to lead the training, in which Helene was a student.
Helene is proud to hold the title of RKMRI Medical Reiki Master, and she and Marleen have continued to work closely together, united by their shared passion for advancing the integration of Reiki in healthcare.
In the Medical Reiki International training, Helene will provide a unique insider's perspective on how Reiki can support patients, staff, and healthcare systems. She will share invaluable insights, guiding students in navigating entry into healthcare settings, discussing professional practice, communicating effectively with medical professionals, understanding the clinical benefits of Reiki for both patients and staff, and overcoming unique challenges in medical environments. Her instruction will also cover practical topics such as Reiki in chemotherapy infusion suites, safety protocols, documentation, and ethical considerations, providing participants with a well-rounded, real-world foundation to support their path as Medical Reiki practitioners.
