​​Meet Marleen Duffy, Founder of Medical Reiki International
With a lifelong devotion to healing and service, Marleen Duffy has been practicing Reiki for over 25 years and teaching it for more than 15. She is the visionary behind Medical Reiki International, where she trains Reiki practitioners to bring skilled, compassionate energy work into clinical settings worldwide.

Based in Sligo, Ireland, Marleen’s work spans decades of hands-on healing and education. She has shared Reiki in a variety of settings, including hospitals, hospices, cancer support centres, and private practice and is deeply committed to integrating Reiki into the heart of patient care.
​
Marleen’s path into Medical Reiki was catalyzed by her training with the late Raven Keyes, whose pioneering work brought Reiki into operating rooms alongside top surgeons in the U.S. Inspired by Raven’s legacy and with her blessing, Marleen created Medical Reiki Ireland, which has since grown into Medical Reiki International, reflecting its global reach and continued evolution.

A trusted mentor and passionate teacher, Marleen is known for her warm, grounded approach and her ability to guide students in building practices rooted in professionalism, clinical awareness, and genuine heart.
​
In addition to her work with Medical Reiki, Marleen is the longtime proprietor of Angel & Gift World, a holistic shop and wellness centre in Sligo. For over 16 years, it has been a space where Reiki training, spiritual growth, and integrative therapies support the wider community.
​
Marleen also volunteered for six years at the Sligo Cancer Support Centre, offering Reiki to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, a role that further deepened her commitment to holistic healthcare.
​
From leading workshops and developing innovative training programs to initiating community healing projects like the Reiki Buddy Scheme during COVID-19, Marleen continues to weave compassion, integrity, and spiritual depth into everything she does.
​
Her mission is clear: to ensure that Reiki is recognised not only as a sacred art, but also as a meaningful support within the world of medicine.

REIKI IN IRISH HOSPITALS
OUR MISSION AT MEDICAL REIKI INTERNATIONAL
Medical Reiki International have been involved with The Reiki Federation of Ireland on a pilot of Reiki Complementary Therapy in the National Maternity Hospital since June 2019 .
For many mothers, the positive experience of pregnancy is overshadowed by stress, anxiety and depression. A Patient’s psychological well-being plays a significant role in her coping mechanism during pregnancy. In the National Maternity Hospital, they take a holistic approach to patient care.
By the end of the first phase of this pilot, 91 patients participated in the program and 88 feedback forms filled. 97% of respondents reported positive experience after the session and 100% respondents recommended Reiki to be offered to the antenatal and postnatal patients.
