Medical Reiki Works – Our Shared Mission
​
Founded in 2017, Medical Reiki Works™ is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing the integration of Medical Reiki into clinical settings through scientific research and professional education. Medical Reiki is the practice of delivering Reiki energy during medical procedures by specially trained practitioners, known as Certified Medical Reiki Masters. These professionals work seamlessly alongside medical teams, following all protocols while providing non-invasive support that helps reduce stress, anxiety, and pain, enhancing patients’ natural healing responses.

At the heart of Medical Reiki Works is a mission inspired by the pioneering efforts of the late Raven Keyes, who co-founded the organisation with Dr Sheldon Marc Feldman, Chief of Breast Surgery at Montefiore Einstein in New York. Their collaboration demonstrated the powerful benefits of Reiki in surgical environments, including smoother procedures, less pain, and faster recovery.

As part of this shared vision, Medical Reiki Works is currently funding and overseeing a clinical pilot study at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Led by Dr Feldman and Dr Alyson Moadel-Robblee, this landmark study is evaluating Reiki’s effect on recovery outcomes, quality of life, and stress biomarkers in breast cancer surgery patients. The results of this research will help establish a strong scientific foundation for wider acceptance of Reiki in medicine and, ultimately, inclusion in insurance-covered care.

Jody Messinger Wolfe, Ed.D., RMT, CMRM has been a member of the Board of Directors of Medical Reiki Works since 2018 and currently serves as its Chairman. Dr. Wolfe holds bachelor's degrees in Political Science, Sociology, and Social Science Education, a master's degree in Social Science Education, and a doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Psychology. Formerly a faculty member at West Virginia University, she also served as assistant director of a multi-million dollar grant to use the best available research, theory and practice to re-imagine teacher education at WVU. She now focuses on her work as a Reiki Master Teacher, a Certified Medical Reiki Master, and a Certified Polarity Balancing Practitioner. She has several hundred hours of Medical Reiki experience serving clients in multiple departments of a university medical center and in an occupational therapy clinic. She also sees clients in her private practice, Mid-Atlantic Complementary Healing, in Morgantown, West Virginia, USA. A friend and colleague of Raven Keyes, Dr. Wolfe is devoted to preserving and advancing Raven's vision for Medical Reiki.

Kimberly Keating Wohlford, RMT, CMRM, has been involved with Medical Reiki Works since its inception after she trained to become a CMRM with Raven Keyes in 2015. Her first experience with Reiki was when she met, and became friends with, Raven in 2011. Kimberly currently serves as Vice-Chairman for the Board of Directors of MRW. She holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Penn West Clarion and a post-graduate certificate in Writing from Stanford. Kimberly was previously employed as the Advertising Director with an American City Business Journal publication where she managed a multi-million-dollar budget. She now practices Energy Medicine as a Certified Medical Reiki Master, Reiki Master Teacher, and Intuitive Earth Energy Healer and has extensive experience with administering Reiki to patients in healthcare settings. Kimberly is also an Herbalist, Writer, PhotoArtist, and Ordained Interfaith Minister with the Sanctuary of the Beloved. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
